The creation of Cafe Parterre

After 30 years of selling antiques from our Woollahra store and sharing a passion for design and food, the seed of the cafe was created. The concept of Cafe Parterre was to create a space that encapsulated all of my design ideas from years of travelling throughout France. The brief to my builder was to utilize the existing stone and brick structures to create a space that reflected the style of Parterre using recycled bricks, reclaimed timbers to create a timeless tranquil place of being. Sourcing pieces for the cafe took over a year and numerous buying trips in France. Our Belgian glasshouse is the center piece of the courtyard. French antique plates, silver cutlery, 1990's garden furniture settings and mirrored orangerie windows help create the pallet that transports the guest to a hidden French courtyard cafe in the heart of Sydney. After a year of trading the cafe has a soul of its own and has been greatly supported by our local community. From our regular breakfast guests or people coming for buisiness lunches the cafe has become a place for locals to gather and experience a unique experience.
